What is Bloating?

Bloating is a sensation of fullness, tightness, or swelling in the abdomen. It's one of the most common digestive complaints, affecting up to 30% of the general population regularly.

Bloating occurs when:

  • Excess gas accumulates in the digestive tract
  • The intestinal muscles don't move gas efficiently
  • Your abdomen becomes visibly distended
  • Sensitivity to normal amounts of gas increases

Key point: Bloating isn't just about feeling full after a large mealβ€”it's an abnormal accumulation or perception of gas that causes discomfort.
