What is Bloating?
Bloating is a sensation of fullness, tightness, or swelling in the abdomen. It's one of the most common digestive complaints, affecting up to 30% of the general population regularly.
Bloating occurs when:
- Excess gas accumulates in the digestive tract
- The intestinal muscles don't move gas efficiently
- Your abdomen becomes visibly distended
- Sensitivity to normal amounts of gas increases
Key point: Bloating isn't just about feeling full after a large mealβit's an abnormal accumulation or perception of gas that causes discomfort.
